Lately I’ve been tied up making my biggest cake yet :O (size wise) with 4 tiers! Sooooo… I took some pictures for you all to see.
Stage 1 is to get the drawn flower template imprinted lightly into the icing. Then begin painting.
I painted the pink peonies first and added a line of dusty gold to finish.
Then I layered the cakes together, two buttercream (Lemon) and two royal fondant (chocolate).
Finally I arranged the flowers around the cake.
I loved painting this cake, I’ve never painted onto icing before, neither have I painted with vodka for water (the alcohol evaporated so the edible powder colouring stays on the icing). My second wedding cake ❤ that was served at a beautiful wedding for a wonderful couple.
Congratulations to Thomas and Priscilla!

Your peony design is very lovely. I’ve also not painted onto icing before, but I’m keen to have a go. Can I ask, how did you transfer the outline of your design onto the icing?

Thank you 🙂 I used baking paper and a blunt pencil. I traced the design onto the baking paper and positioned it on the cake, then pressing softly, drew back over the lines so they made a small indent into the icing through the paper (making sure the pencil didn’t actually touch the cake)

Thanks for the tip! I have another celebration cake to do in a couple of weeks, so I’ll give it a whirl 🙂
